Information on 2013-2014 Budget:
The annual public budget must be accompanied by the current year's school report card and accountability report. As of this time those documents continue to be embargoed by SED. Once they are released all legally required elements of the Public Budget will be on this site and released in printed form. Please click the following link to view/print the information on the 2013-2014 Budget:
At the April 23, 2013 regular Board of Education meeting the board, in response to the community petitions, passed a resolution by a vote of 5 – 0 to revisit the merger straw vote with Mayfield. The resolution will be forwarded to SED and a date will be set for the re-vote. The district is hoping to have a vote sometime in June but that must be determined by SED.
A straw vote is simply a vote of intent to move forward with the merger plan. A second binding vote must be held before the merger is finalized.
In the interim the merger document that contained two options will be redrafted to completely eliminate the option that raised Northville taxes to Mayfield rates. This should minimize the confusion about what the new district might look like. As soon as the document is printed copies will be distributed.
If the straw vote is held in June, the second and binding vote will be held sometime in the fall.
At that time if the vote is positive in both communities a new board will be elected and the new district will be formed.
Mayfield’s superintendent will be retiring in June and Northville’s superintendent retired last October. Rather than hire new superintendents, both boards of education have wisely opted to share an interim superintendent for one year as this merger exploration moves forward. The current uncertainty may restrict the candidate pool. By fall, the merger determination will be made as to whether it is one district or two, and highly-qualified potential candidates can confidently apply for the position(s).
